Hunter Ceiling Fans

Hunter ceiling fans are one of the most sought after ceiling fan brands in the market, known for its excellent craftsmanship, innovativeness and unparalleled heritage. In fact, the history of Hunter ceiling fans is closely woven with the general history of ceiling fans, with Hunter being one of the oldest ceiling fan companies in existence.

The Hunter Fan Company

The Hunter Fan Company was established by James C. Hunter in 1896 in Syracuse, New York, ten years after he bought shares in the Tuerk Water Meter Company and invented the first ceiling fan – a water-powered belt-driven model.

Another ten years later, Hunter would produce its first electric ceiling fans, including the ‘Hunter Original’ which went on to become one of its most famous models still in production today.

The Hunter Original

The Hunter Original is truly one of Hunter’s ceiling fan masterpieces, with a cast iron shaded pole motor and a unique oil bath lubrication system. During its time, it was one of the most powerful ceiling fans available and today, in spite of no longer being produced in the United States, and using a different motor, continues to provide superb performance – a fact which has allowed it to endure through the years against much fancier models that do not require oiling.

Hunter Innovations

Over the years, Hunter has produced many remarkable models that live up to the same standards as the Original. Some of the most recent include the Hunter Concert Breeze, the first ceiling fan with an integrated wireless high-definition sound system and the Hunter Fanaway, which has clear retractable blades so it can double as a simple pendant light.

Other more popular innovations incorporated in many Hunter ceiling fans include the ultra-quiet WhisperWind motor, wobble-free hanger ball system, anti-dust blade coating, self-adjusting control ring and five-minute installation system.
